Showers & wet rooms

Shower Tray Repairs

A shower tray is one of the most disruptive items to replace, because the screen, tiling and often the waste all have to come out. Where the tray and the damage are suitable, we repair localised cosmetic damage in place and leave the enclosure undisturbed.

Our shower tray work is cosmetic only. We make no structural claims: a repair does not strengthen, re-support or waterproof a tray. If a tray is flexing, moving or letting water past, that needs addressing beneath the surface first. Anti-slip treatment can be considered separately for suitable trays.

Scope

What we repair

  • Acrylic and reinforced acrylic trays
  • Stone-resin and composite trays
  • Low-profile and flush-fit trays
  • Tray upstands and edge profiles
  • Wet-room panels and surrounds adjoining the tray
  • Localised wear in the standing area of an otherwise sound tray

Damage

Typical damage we see

  • Chips from dropped shower heads, bottles or tools
  • Scratches and scuffing in the standing area
  • Localised surface cracking in one specific spot
  • Drill and fixing damage from screens and grab rails
  • Dull, worn or marked patches from cleaning products
  • Trade and transit damage on refurbishment and fit-out sites

How it works

Our repair process

  1. 01

    Assessment

Photographs are reviewed to identify the tray type and confirm the damage is cosmetic and localised, with no sign of movement or water escaping below.

  2. 02

    Preparation

Screens, tiling, waste and adjoining flooring are masked and protected, and the damaged area is cut back to sound material and cleaned of soap and sealant residue.

  3. 03

    Repair

The area is rebuilt in layers and shaped to follow the fall and contour of the tray so water still drains as intended.

  4. 04

    Finish

Colour, sheen and texture are matched to the surrounding tray as closely as the materials allow, including textured standing areas where possible.

  5. 05

    Inspection

The repair is checked with you in natural light, the enclosure is left clean, and we explain curing time and aftercare before the shower is used again.

Honest advice

Suitability and limitations

Every surface is assessed before work is agreed. Where a repair is not the right long-term answer, we will say so.

  • We make no structural claims — a repair does not strengthen or re-support a tray.
  • Trays that flex, rock or move underfoot need the installation addressed first.
  • Any sign of water escaping below the tray must be investigated before cosmetic work.
  • Cracks running across the full width of a tray are replacement work.
  • A repair is a close blend, not an invisible one, particularly on textured or patterned trays.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can a cracked shower tray be repaired?

Localised cosmetic cracking on a sound, properly supported tray can often be repaired. Cracking caused by movement or poor support is not something a cosmetic repair should be asked to solve.

Will the repair stop a leak?

No. We make no structural or waterproofing claims. If water is escaping below the tray, that needs investigating separately before any cosmetic repair is considered.

Do you need to remove the shower screen?

Usually not. Most repairs are carried out in place with the enclosure masked and protected. We will tell you in advance if access requires anything more.

Can the tray be made less slippery?

Where the tray is suitable, an anti-slip treatment can be applied as a separate service to help improve slip resistance. See our anti-slip treatments page.
